We have had a busy January! I don't like to post too much about Evan's medical stuff online, but there are a couple of things i'll share. The poor guy has had so many doctors, dentists, etc appointments this month--I think the total so far has been 7. We have made it through all the visits, and are now waiting on his surgery date, which is next Mon, Feb 3. He will have his palate repaired first, along with tubes placed in his ears, and a tooth bud removed from his palate. We are looking forward to getting this done--really, we're looking forward to it being over and recovered. Please pray for him as he undergoes this--that it goes smoothly, and that his recovery is fast and as painless as possible. Hopefully once this is complete he'll be able to hear better, and his speech will take off.
We did have a BabyNet appointment a few weeks ago, but that was a total waste of time for us for now. They didn't want to even do the testing on him as it was during his naptime (and it was his second appt of the day--appts which he's getting tired of), due to his unrepaired lip/palate, and as well as the fluid in his ears (due to the cl/cp--chances are he's not hearing things very clearly but hearing more muffled sounds). So, we are to contact them again once he's recovered from all his surgeries for testing. Supposedly they can do the testing at our house, which will be very important as this time point will most likely occur around the time Sullivan is born.
So, that's what's been going on around here. I have the Chosen Conference coming up at church this weekend, and am really looking forward to it. It was such a profound weekend for me last year, and i'm looking forward to what God has in store for this year.
Please keep us in your prayers over the next few weeks as Evan recovers. We really hate that he has to go through all of this and endure the pain and discomfort, but we know it's in his best interest.
