Okay, so I have been very slack about updating our blog. Considering it's been, oh, 6 months, I guess I have a lot to cover. So, here's what's been going on over the last 6 months.
Fall has come and gone. We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary on October 16th. Wow, time flies. I cannot believe it's been 4 years. Better yet, I'm amazed we've been able to live peacefully with each other for the last 4 years (and a war has not yet broken out in the Whichard household)! It's all been great; we are definitely blessed. We both feel we have met our soul mate, and are hoping and praying that God blesses us with many years together (yes, we'd like to grow old with each other).
For our 4th anniversary, we took an extended weekend trip back to Gatlinburg. Our main goal this time was to hike the Chimney Tops Trail in the Smokies. Of course it ended up snowing in the mountains, and a bit of ice accumulated in the upper elevations. It definitely made for an interesting hike at the top of the trail. But, we made it! We had to crawl up the side of the rock at the top, but it was definitely worth the climb. Actually I only went up about halfway, while David went to the top.
Of course, a week before our anniversary we learned that we were pregnant! And yes, I did that hike and climbed up the rock when I was pregnant. My mother's not too thrilled about that, but it all turned out okay. Anyway we were thrilled to learn in late October that we had a heartbeat--finally a viable pregnancy! We just learned last week that we are expecting a little girl in June. Her name will be Kathryn Grace.
November and December flew by quickly, with us spending Thanksgiving with David's family in NC. We celebrated Christmas here in Charleston with mine and David's parents. The holidays seemed to fly by this year (of course we were also focusing a lot more on our baby than anything this year).
So, this year--2010--we are preparing for some changes. In fact, pretty significant changes. We're very excited though. We are anxiously awaiting Kathryn's arrival! In the mean time, we are having a blast preparing her room. We ordered the furniture, and have all of it (except for the dresser/changer which will be here at the end of March). Her bedding came in this week. Now we are just looking at paint colors, and will be painting her room soon! Of course there's still some junk that needs to be cleaned out of her room, but we are getting there! Exciting times! We are definitely blessed--it has been a long road, but are thankful that God has blessed us with her and are looking forward to meeting her!
